Depuis cinq ans, il dirige de nombreux projets de recherche sur la propulsion alternative en collaboration avec l\u2019industrie, ainsi que sur la conception d\u2019h\u00e9lices pour a\u00e9ronefs non conventionnels. Il enseigne \u00e9galement le cours A\u00e9rodynamique et performance des h\u00e9licopt\u00e8res depuis cinq ans. Titulaire d\u2019une ma\u00eetrise en g\u00e9nie m\u00e9canique portant sur l\u2019optimisation de la performance d\u2019un h\u00e9licopt\u00e8re tandem autonome, il poursuit actuellement un doctorat sur la conception d\u2019h\u00e9lices destin\u00e9es \u00e0 des r\u00e9gimes de vol atypiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">David Rancourt<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>David Rancourt est professeur agr\u00e9g\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Sherbrooke depuis janvier 2017 et pilote commercial totalisant plus de 1 500 heures de vol. Il est directeur de l\u2019Institut de conception et de formation en g\u00e9nie a\u00e9rospatial de Sherbrooke (A\u00e9roUdeS) ainsi que codirecteur du groupe d\u2019innovation CREATEK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ses int\u00e9r\u00eats de recherche portent sur la conception et la propulsion alternative d\u2019a\u00e9ronefs, de m\u00eame que sur l\u2019ing\u00e9nierie des syst\u00e8mes. Dipl\u00f4m\u00e9 du Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta), il y a obtenu un doctorat pour ses travaux sur le d\u00e9veloppement d\u2019une nouvelle configuration d\u2019h\u00e9licopt\u00e8re \u00e0 propulsion \u00e9lectrique. Au cours des dix derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, il a contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 plus de quarante publications scientifiques et \u00e0 trois brevets dans les domaines de la conception d\u2019a\u00e9ronefs, de la dynamique des v\u00e9hicules a\u00e9riens et de l\u2019a\u00e9rodynamique des h\u00e9licopt\u00e8res. Fort de son exp\u00e9rience de vol, il met \u00e0 profit ses comp\u00e9tences de pilote pour enrichir l\u2019enseignement et la recherche en a\u00e9ronautique. Le Pr Rancourt est \u00e9galement engag\u00e9 comme administrateur au sein de divers conseils d\u2019administration li\u00e9s au secteur a\u00e9ronautique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>___________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Join the Montr\u00e9al-Ottawa Chapter of the Vertical Flight Society for a social and technical networking event hosted by the Universit\u00e9 de Sherbrooke at its Longueuil Campus! This session will address the fundamentals of helicopter aerodynamics and performance (with M. Bouchard), as well as alternative propulsion systems (with D. Over the past five years, he has led numerous research projects on alternative propulsion in collaboration with industry partners, as well as projects focusing on the design of propellers for unconventional aircraft. He has also taught the course Aerodynamics and Helicopter Performance for five years. Bouchard holds a master&#8217;s degree in mechanical engineering, with a focus on optimizing the performance of an autonomous tandem helicopter, and he is currently pursuing a doctorate in the design of propellers for atypical flight regimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">David Rancourt<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>David Rancourt has been an associate professor at the University of Sherbrooke since January 2017. He is also a commercial pilot with over 1,500 flight hours. He directs the Sherbrooke Institute for Aerospace Engineering Design and Training (A\u00e9roUdeS) and is the co-director of the CREATEK Innovation Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His research interests include aircraft design, alternative propulsion, and systems engineering. He earned his doctorate from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta) for his work on developing a new electric-powered helicopter configuration. Over the past ten years, he has contributed to more than forty scientific publications and three patents in the fields of aircraft design, air vehicle dynamics, and helicopter aerodynamics. He uses his extensive flying experience and piloting skills to enrich his teaching and research in aeronautics.
